Our Story

Real Range started with an electric motorcycle and a ride across Australia.

Trying to plan that ride immediately landed in the "nobody can help you" category, because the vehicle was not a car. EV trip planners plan for cars. Long-distance charging tools assume four wheels, a 60-plus kWh battery, and a driver who will sit at a DC charger for forty minutes. A motorcycle is none of those things, and the moment you are not a car, mainstream tools have nothing for you.

That was the first crack. It got wider quickly.

I had been riding for years, with logs of every fill sitting right there. Every one of those logs says something about how I ride: my speeds, my routes, my conditions, my style. That data should mean something. It should be the basis for telling me, with confidence, how far I can go on the next tank and what it will cost. No site does that. No site even takes the logs in. All that information, already recorded, with nowhere to go.

Then there are the endless online discussions. Which fuel is actually worth the extra? Which tyres genuinely change your economy? Does that aftermarket mod help or hurt? Every forum thread on every vehicle runs the same loop. The stories of km range become like fishing stories, and we all know that 89.52% of statistics on the internet are made up. But every one of those questions has a real answer hiding in someone's log history. Is premium fuel worth the price, actually making it cheaper to run than standard? Stop guessing. Look at your own logs. Does your car travel more economically after changing tyres? The answer is already in the data, on both sides of the change, waiting to be compared.

That is the through-line. Every piece of Real Range came out of the same observation: the information we need to answer these questions already exists. People are already recording it, or they would gladly record it if the logging were painless. The missing piece is a system that turns those logs into real answers, for the specific vehicle and the specific person, in a form they can act on.

It is not a car problem. It is not an EV problem. It is not a motorcycle problem. It is a vehicle problem, and it has the same shape for everyone who operates one.

So we built for everyone.

For me, Real Range brings three passions together in one place. I love motorcycles, petrol and electric. I love cars, classic, hybrid and electric. And I love statistics. This project lives at the intersection of all of them.
